Westone is an American manufacturer of custom earpieces for the hearing healthcare market, hearing protection products, custom communications earpieces, clinical and audiological supplies, musicians hearing protection and in-ear monitors for professional musicians and audiophiles.

An audiophile mentioned, "Mediocre-at-best for neutral listening. The Westone W40 sound a bit too boomy and lack a surprising amount of detail, while still being sibilant on some tracks. There's enough bass, but it doesn't kick like some of the other in-ears. Instead, the big bump in the High-Bass/Low-Mid makes them sound boomy and muddy."

Current Employee - Tech says

"Product and service is suffering. The moral is deteriorating more and more. The systems are out of date. The teams lack leadership and clear direction."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"The direction once the family owned and operated part of the business model went away has completely destroyed anything good about the company. Working hard and putting your time in and showing dedication used to matter. It does not anymore. Longevity means you get paid to much and your job is in jeopardy. The business itself needs people with knowledge of the product, not concepts like “continuous flow” and “lean manufacturing.” Those concepts do not work when you have someone that knows absolutely nothing about the product we were trying to make. All it did was make people work longer hours and get frustrated when things didn’t work. I still hear about extreme amounts of overtime that is completely unnecessary because they’ve been trying these concepts that have not worked for the last 4 years. The ultimate goal is for the CEO to get his paycheck and make the shareholders and owners happy. People so not matter anymore that is abundantly clear."

Former Employee - Warehouse Retail Shipper says

"I applied after seeing their post on indeed. I was hired quickly due to my experience but after working for 3 month my bonus was cut significantly. Not the promised amount. Only like 200 instead of 500. Also the management is always changing and argumentative. Not professional. And not quality products anymore. The new owner is awful at his job."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Where do I start? Management is awful - they have no idea what the labs or the order entry department does and keep trying to enforce work methods that are unrealistic or simply don't work for the kind of product Westone makes. Top management has imposed restrictive methods on the employees regarding workplace, time cards, etc."

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"The overall management of the company has gone downhill and is horrible. Everyone is micromanaged and there is very inconsistent communication from the CEO on down. The turnover over the past 2 years is ridiculous. Doesn't help that the executive management "team" constantly is in-fighting and creating an unstable environment for everyone. The CEO puts no value in long time, very knowledgeable employees and is quick to fire for little to no reason. The team morale is at an all time low with no chance of improving as long as the executive management and CEO remains."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"The CEO (Current CEO not Lynn). Loss of quality leadership and management. Only interested in maximizing profits to sell the company. No culture, no team building. CEO demeans and denigrates employees and has no clue what he is doing. He already drove other companies into the ground. I just hope this one is not next, but probably will be given the way he is going."

Former Employee - Lab Technician says

"-Management is a joke. -Overtime varies depending on how incompetent management is that day -Rules are made solely to punish everyone and do not solve the issues -Actual convicted criminals like drunk drivers persist to be employed because of favoritism -rules only apply to select employees -Some "team leads" (assistant managers) are incompetent and often abuse their position -questionable overtime scheduling, for Ex: Staying 2 hours later on Friday then having to come an an hour later the next morning on Saturday"

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Lack of communication and appreciation throughout the company."

Employee says

"Bad Benefits package, annual bonus keeps getting smaller, owners treat employees badly, Management structure is a joke, and lots of dysfunctional boundary violations. Raises and reviews are not consistent."

Lab Technician (Former Employee) says

"I just got let go from Westone management doesn’t care about the workers who do work and not gossip about others I wouldn’t recommend working there anymore"

Hearing Aid Technician (Former Employee) says

"Youll see for yourself if you work here. Mgmt treats workers badly & will degrade u. and rough pay considering how hard youre gon be working. Other employees been there a while look at you with a look of 'save yourseld child...run..' great job if you love micromanagement and long shifts where youll have plenty of time to wonder where it all went wrong to lead you hereYou get money if you show upShort breaks, shady management, everyone seems miserable, bad pay"

Lab Manager (Former Employee) says

"Westone used to be a fun and innovative place to work. Many people made it a career. The CEO and new "leadership" are running this once family owned company into the ground. There are no more positive benefits to working there. We used to have so many perks to working here that people would recommend working here to family members and friends. Not any more! Don't apply here, they have let so many senior management and long term employees go, or have been forced to leave due to the future of the company, that the only leadership in place are all hand selected by the CEO. They have no idea how to run a custom ear mold production company. It's not all cookie cutter products. Every earmold is different and he tries to run it like a playing card manufacturer, which is his experience. STAY AWAYNoneYou name it"

Customer Care (Former Employee) says

"I have never worked for a company that cared so much for their employees and customers as Westone in the beginning. At the end they didn't seem to care about anything but the money. Health insuranceMANAGEMENT...only worried about money. Brougbt moral and quality down"

Manager (Former Employee) says

"Very poor management. The future of the company is not clear.still has good benefit, but it will changere-structuring"

Lead Shipper (Former Employee) says

"8 hours of work per day went from awesome the first 5 years and the last 5 years was a change in the economy.weekendsweekdays"

Customer Care Representative (Former Employee) says

"I start my day getting logged into your computer and telephone.I would answer calls selling audiological supplies, helping with what supplies will best work for their practice. Informing Audiologists of new products. Figuring out problems on fit of ear molds. Helping on remakes of ear molds for fit. Helping with account balances, what they were charged for and taking payment on accounts. Providing monthly statements and invoices. I learned the aspects of Audiology and the benefits of hearing protection. There was a lot of turnover with management so it was hard to get the feel of continuity. When the company was bought by a corporation the culture changed from a family feeling to just a job. The hardest part of the job was the challenge of trying to suggest remakes on ear molds for the Audiologist. Working one on one with customers and co workers was the most enjoyable part of the job.Great co workers and customers.Short lunch"

Production Technician (Current Employee) says

"Big changes going on , new owners, unpredictable never know what to expect from day to day always feels like you may go next lots of downsizing very uncomfortable.fairly easy jobstraining & management"

Data Entry (Former Employee) says

"This company has the potential to be great. great work ethic and ideas.HoursEmployee Drama"

Lab Technician (Former Employee) says

"I had good co workers in my Department for the majority of the time. Liked some Overtime they offered. Liked weekends off. HR could be better. Good Benefit program. Pay increase could’ve been better after almost 12 years working there. Management was great in the beginning, not so much lately.Weekends mostly off.Not good pay increase after almost 12 years working there."

Lab Technician (Current Employee) says

"The typical day at work isn't much fun. The people there are always upset and despise their job. I learned a lot of different jobs and about team work. The management is very poor because they don't have very good communication. The co-workers seem upset all the time and it destroys the moral of any person working there. The hardest part of my job is staying motivated throughout the day. The best part of my job is that we can listen to music while we work.good benefitsmicromanagement and upset employees"

Customer Technical Support Representative (Former Employee) says

"Was a pretty great place to work at one point. Paid well, but alot of changes that made it a bad place to work. Most of the people there had been there 10+ years, but many got fired or quit because it had changed so much."

Lab Technician/numbering/data entry (Former Employee) says

"busy, learned how to make ear molds, polishing, engraving the ear molds.the culture was nice, the hardest part of the job was not getting enough training.going to the labsnot knowing whats next."

Previous Customer says

"They are unbelievable disorganized and have sent me the wrong earmolds on several occasions. The last time, I called, and said, \"These are not mine. They don\'t begin to fit the patient\'s ears. Not even close.\" The rep said she would research the issue and call me back. After several days, I called back and was informed that the employee had quit. They said they would research my problem, and called back later that day to inform me that several people had gotten the wrong earmolds that day, because someone dropped a tray of impressions on the way to the earmold lab. Randy is rolling over in his grave!"
